Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Police reported they were alerted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered many other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.

City officials said they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for information.

A high-ranking official commented the incident made him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
