19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an better serve.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
