The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
